Ironlandscape

2015

55cm x 50cm x 8cm

valettu rauta, puu

This iron relief is a combination of casted iron and wood. In the casting process, most of the wood is burnt away because iron is so hot when it is in liquid form. You can still see some often wood pieces left but most of them are turned in charcoal or vanished completely.

Wood as nature. Something that was existing before humans and will do so after we are gone. Iron as a symbol of humans, technology and for everywhere spreading cities. Natures resist to us. Transformation to something else. God´s view from above. View from the sky, sitting on an airplane looking to ground. Feeling the puzzlement.
