Statement

My artistic work’s themes are loosely connected to human existence. How we are in the world as human beings, made of flesh, capable to feel and think and still part of the surrounding culture. I approach these themes through human form and its abstractions. Different materials and forms have an essential role in my works.  Wood is the dearest material to me. It is part of our cultural history, but it is also connected directly to our body by producing oxygen what we breathe.

Wood as organic and timeless material is combined with modern and industrial materials like aluminum and iron. I use different kind of casting techniques to join these materials with wood, which brings tensions and dialogue between different materials. I am fascinated to combine organic forms and materials with the industrial ones. The themes of the works emerge to me through intuition, instinct, senses, and imagery.
